The test subject sent over from Teufel played from the beginning with good detail and finely harmonised dynamics. An imposing orchestra played in all voices equally well. Even if it's lacking in higher frequency spectrums here and there, the M520 F makes up for it with its cleanly graduated representation.
Thundering drums and spirited strings play equally with expressive character. The acoustic underpinnings of the subwoofer to the included Satellites work fantastically, with the high, mid- and low ranges flowing together. Large and heavy bass drivers present themselves with the M 520 F with an acceptable group delay. The bass range is seamlessly implemented in the sound and plays together hand in hand with the agile but light midrange drivers. (Which can’t be taken for granted, especially with a standing loudspeaker of this price class.)
To bring the broad bass drivers out of the shadows, we placed some demanding classical music into the player. The Hip Hop CD "Tarantula" (from US rapper Mystical) and the album "Shock Value" (from Timbaland) really bring out the deep, powerful bass.
The dynamically compressed but still well co-ordinated baselines and kick drums are blasted unfiltered and powerfully into the listening area. Through the large hub capacity of the boxes are out there every time and fully heard – by you. With an almost unreasonable nonchalance, the two stand loudspeakers throw it out into the test room. And that makes us very happy. The M 520 F is a solid loudspeaker, that, very simply, makes it fun again – and that in the classical stereo area as well as the multi-channel setup. Full bass, neutral mid-ranges and clear listening – a powerful construction.
In plain words
The Berlin music-smithy can always be counted on for a real surprise. With the M 250 F Teufel offers an acoustic goodie at a seductive price. The symbiosis between the active and non-active technology works out devastatingly good. The thin stand boxes sound commanding, thanks to the included subwoofer, are cleanly made and please the eye with their contours. Measured against its price, the play is unequalled in its price class.
